One of the most popular speed-distance devices on the market just got better.

It was announced on Thursday that the Nike+ SportWatch, one of the most popular speed-distance devices on the market, will now feature uber-accurate GPS capabilities powered by TomTom.

Set to hit stores on April 1, the watch just won two Innovation Awards in Wellness and Personal Electronics at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas.

Synching TomTom’s GPS navigation technology with the Nike+ sensor chip, the new and improved speed-distance device will be a huge upgrade from the current SportWatch/sensor combo which relies solely on an accelerometer to record data. Uploading information to your computer after a workout will be just as easy as the current setup, however, as the embedded USB connector at the end of the SportWatch connects directly to your computer, allowing you to upload information to an online training log at nikeplus.com.
